2007 Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE. Spares or repair. Car has covered 161,450 miles. 2 keys, partial service history. V5C. Maintained/serviced by myself for the last few years (career engineer). Car has all the usual HSE extras. This car failed its MOT last year on corroded sills. The rest of the car is in good condition. The bodywork, apart from the sills, is in decent condition bar a few age related marks. The engine and gearbox are perfect. The car runs perfectly, no smoke from the exhaust. Doesn't burn oil. All the electrics work... mirrors/windows/heated seats/sunroof/etc. No lights on the dashboard. You have two options with this vehicle. You could get a couple of sill panels to repair the sills and then you'd have a fully functional car. Or, you could part it out for spares as all parts are in functional condition. Either way, there is a lot of value still left in this car. I'm going to get another car so I can't be bothered to do either. NOTE: this car has no MOT, road tax (SORN'ed) or insurance so it absolutely will NOT be road tested. It will, however, be able to drive onto a trailer/low loader as it is fully functional otherwise. Owned for around 12 years, averaging around 6-7000 per year.Mileage 142,000, generally local miles school runs, nearby towns, but within that time have travelled around the country the odd times, Wales holidays etc. At 135,000 New clutch and Timing belt. 4 weeks ago new clutch cable. The car cut out on me when I'd pulled over, then managed to get a push start to work. Hours later after work I got a jump lead start from a powerful 4x4 it started first time. However when I left it running outside and returned it had stopped running. A second colleague later tried with a 1 litre car and it wouldn't start with jump leads, it tried a little but wouldn't start. Recovery the next day said its probably an electrical or fuel fault but unsure as to what, his diagnostic machine couldn't tell him, only spent a very short time including paperwork before he towed me home. He said it could be the ignition barrel as he felt it was loose but also that it could be a number of things. EGR was previously blocked off by mechanic which could be the root, so a possible reason or linked, but can be reversed apparently. Watch video for info. Weighing up my options of going through a fix, and in need of a vehicle change after 15 years, I'm going to pass it on to someone who can resolve car faults. Recent timing belt 7k ago. Recent clutch at 7k ago. Three roof bars. Tow Bar with electric socket. Becomes a huge van with seats down fully down into footwell. Sliding doors for tight spaces. It's excellent and popular for camping in, I've slept many many times inside with seats down it's like a double bed size. Mot June. Very clean and tidy.
