Used Car Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing a used car.

• View the car in-person first. This is the only way to truly know what condition the car is in - you should not accept photos and/or video calls where possible.
• Always go for a test-drive. Mechanical issues may not be visually obvious.
• By law, all cars MUST have a valid MOT, Vehicle Tax and the driver must hold valid insurance before the car can be driven on the public road.

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a used car:

• Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the car first - never send any money before viewing the vehicle in-person.
• Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
• Seller offers to deliver the vehicle
• Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
• Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
