Daihatsu Copen 659cc. 2004. The Copen has been off the road and stored in a dry, if dusty barn since 2019. Regularly used until 2019, the car ran fine, the automatic folding roof worked without problem and everything worked as it should. As with many Copens, the rear wheel arches suffer from rust, with rust also appearing near the sills. Additionally, the right-hand rear wing has a dent in it due being reversed into by an inattentive driver (see photos). New rear wheel arches/wings are required. This was why the car was taken off the road and SORNed, pending repairs. Then COVID came along and other matters took priority. Inside, the car is clean and tidy, allowing for being in storage (spiders have been squatting in it). No tears or holes in the seats or carpets. All the instruments and radio worked when the car was taken off the road. The engine bay is as you’d expect on a car stored for 6 years: all there but a little dusty. The car has no battery so the boot cannot be opened, but it was clean and tidy when the Copen was taken off the road. Given its position in a barn tucked in a corner, it is difficult to take good photos of the car. As it has no battery, it cannot currently be started and driven. For serious enquiries, a temporary battery can be connected to the car. The Copen has had a light wash to remove wind-blown dust accumulated during storage. It looks a bit dirty in some photos. The photos show the rust and temporary ‘repairs’ to the rear wheel arches, and also the condition of the interior. It would make a good project for someone to repair and then enjoy: its a great car to drive. Alternatively, it could be a source of spares for other Copens. £600 or open to offers.
