Engine management light is on but when i spoke to a mechanic he told me it was linked to thermostat sensor and told me it wasn’t urgent and didn’t need changing, i have been driving the car everyday without problems. Passed last MOT with a few minor advisories on it. Very low mileage for a car of this age at 92,515 so still got a lot of life left in it! cheap runaround with cheap insurance and road tax so perfect for new drivers aswell. 44.8 mpg so also cheap to run Car has just had front brake disc + pads changed last week and back drivers tyre has been replaced with a brand new one on the 29th September 2025. For sale, VW Polo 1.2 9n, 2005. The car is not in the best visual condition, however the engine mileage is quite low for its age. Recently the two front springs, spark plugs, ignition coils and front tyres were replaced, and the wheel alignment has been done. I use it daily as transport to work in Slough. There is a constant misfire error on cylinder 3, although it does not affect driving. Sometimes the error disappears for a month or longer, but eventually comes back. Most likely it is a sensor issue, I haven’t replaced it as I am moving abroad soon. The car starts and runs normally. The misfire error does not affect anything, and as I wrote, it’s probably just a matter of a sensor (a cheap repair). MOT valid until June next year. Open to reasonable offers.

I have had this car almost from new. First as a company car and then bought it from my former employer. It has been serviced regularly in accordance with the reminders it gives me and a full service history is available from Pony Road Autos if wanted (they have serviced it since we moved to Oxford in 2012). Been used mainly for motorway journeys so the engine has always had time to warm up. My wife and I have both used it and apart from replacing a clutch it has never really broken down. It still drives well although as you would expect being old there are a few things no longer working. These are: air conditioning, the key fob control for opening the car (locking stilll works) so if we lock the car we open with the physical key. The rear door central locking/opening on one door does not work so the door won't open. It can open but for some reason when it was locked by the fob it then refused. I understand it can be sorted but we never bothered. The turbo boost is intermittent so it can be a bit slower getting up to speed but we do 70mph on the motorways (we are very law abiding but it probably will go faster!). The engine is now more noisy than before but it still seems to run alright. The radio is ok ish but the CD player works well. The cigar lighter works as I use it for pumping up the tyres. Unlike modern cars it actually has a proper spare tyre! It has a current MOT. As it is old we have reflected that in the asking price. The mark 4 Golf is a Classic in my view. Much better than the later mark 5 which I also drove (but that is only my view).

It starts first time, runs smoothly, and feels solid on the road. The gearbox is a little slack, and it can be a bit awkward getting it into 5th gear sometimes. I’ve had it checked, and it’s likely just a gear linkage adjustment or stretched cable, which is a fairly easy fix. £950 or nearest offer – fair price given the long MOT and overall good condition.

2005 Volkswagen Passat
Volkswagen Passat TDI 130 Estate. I am finally parting with my beloved Passat. This is the fourth B5 that I have owned and they are brilliant cars. It is still being used and has MOT until 09 June 2026 and lowish mileage 173000. Good points are that it drives really well with lots of power from a very strong engine, it returns an indicated 50 plus MPG, quiet gearbox, newish tyres, good leather interior, electrics all good (see note below). Not so good - recently airbag warning light has come on (I have read that it might just be the wire spool in the steering wheel?) air con won't charge, rear offside window needs looking at, it is fully shut at moment. Usual rust on front wings, tailgate collects water, glovebox hinge is fractured but still useable. Slight water ingress from nearside rear door (it needs the inner door panel sealing, I did the drivers one recently). I am located in Feniton.
