Highlights 5.2-litre V10 All-wheel drive Gated manual gearbox Recently serviced Phenomenal sound Overview Yes V8s are great and all that, but why wouldn’t you opt for a couple more cylinders? They might come in handy someday. Especially as they push the power output up to 518 bhp, and the top speed to 196 mph — which in our books is pretty much 200 mph. And 200 mph is the kind of speed you can normally only achieve by going to France and getting on a train. So if you want to be the fastest person in town, then you should consider this gated manual V10 Audi R8. Its Lamborghini Gallardo DNA runs deep, but the R8 takes the four-ringed badge and returns it to the world of high performance motoring. When it was first released, a few people were slightly taken aback by the presence of the Audi badge on an exotic-looking supercar, but we get it entirely. That winning combination of Italian flair and German engineering just makes sense. This particular R8 comes in a pale shade of grey, and features some snazzy exterior trim pieces, in case it needed to prove it isn’t a boring Audi commuter car. But imagine if this was your commuter car: what a commute that would be. To add to this R8’s kerb appeal, it’s a Spyder. This means it has a convertible soft top roof and cost even more when it was new (about £109,580 if we remember correctly). And that was 15 years ago, during which there have apparently been one or two financial ‘blips’ which mean that it would cost even more today. If they still made them, which they don’t. We haven’t even got round to discussing the R8’s phenomenally good handling, and all-round performance. With the rarely-specified manual gearbox, it’s a treat for the driver. Needless to say it ticks all the boxes, as long as you don’t need to carry more than a weekend’s worth of luggage. A small price to pay for such a thrilling motorcar. History and documentation Registered 8 Jun 2010 Stamped service book with services as follows: 12,963 miles (date not recorded),Oct 2012 @ 19,248 miles, Sep 2014 @ 26,327 miles, Jul 2016 @ 29,130 miles, Dec 2017 @ 35,298 miles, 39,315 miles (date not recorded),Jan 2022 @ 50,184 miles Additional service invoice: May 2025 @ 55,011 miles Full document pack Two keys Current MOT with no advisories expires 23 Apr 2026 V5 present in owner’s name HPI clear London ULEZ compliant Interior Black leather seat upholstery, with very few signs of wear Deep bolsters provide excellent lateral support A few light creases to the driver’s seat bolster Some scuffs to the passenger seat base Electric seat adjusters Heated seats Wind deflector behind the headrests Matching black carpets in good condition The leather trim continues onto the door cards and dashboard Manual handbrake lever Gated gearshift and knurled gearknob Alcantara multi-function steering wheel Cruise control Climate control Large infotainment screen with satnav Reversing camera with steering guide Large, clear analogue instruments Under the bonnet there is a small carpeted boot Original jack, towing eye, warning triangle, and first aid kit under the boot floor Exterior Low and wide, this R8 Spyder looks fantastic on the road Finished in an attractive shade of light grey Black soft-top roof Black rear wing and trim pieces A-pillars, engine vents, filler cap and wing mirror cowls finished in crystal-effect The paint is very well presented throughout, with only minor signs of use No damage or corrosion to the body panels reported There are a couple of cracks and small pieces missing from the front splitter 19-inch alloy wheels Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres The wheels look great, with no scuffs or kerb damage that we could see Black badges and grille trim Headlights clear and bright Tinted windows Soft top roof appears to be free from tears and damage, with a little light fading The underside looks clean and tidy Twin exhaust tips Mechanical 5,204cc V10 engine, mid-mounted Produces 518 bhp, and 391 lb ft Top speed 196 mph, 0-62 mph in 4.1 seconds Six-speed manual gearbox All-wheel drive Engine bay clean There is a little corrosion on some of the suspension and drivetrain components The car was serviced and inspected in May 2025, where it was found to need some work to the brake system which was completed satisfactorily Four-wheel alignment and brake fluid change carried out The Haldex all-wheel drive system oil was changed in January 2022 No MOT advisories The seller tells us that the car starts loudly, and revs like an F1 car No warning lights reported Summary We could happily look at this R8 all day long. Or listen to it all day long. Or even better, drive it all day long. Or better still, drive it all day with the roof down and the wind in our hair.
